The second evening event for Ancient Lives was a cooking event led by the food assignment leader, Patricia Gonzalez, Bachelor in Gastronomic Science in the Basque Culinary Center. The Basque Culinary Center is a pioneering academic institution worldwide with the involvement of eleven of the most influential chefs in the world, prioritizing higher education, research, innovation and promotion of gastronomy and nutrition. The recipes were prepared through multidisciplinary work and interpretation of ancient tablets. It took many hands to prepare the Mesopotamian beet stew and steamed bulgur. The class was split into different roles, with some preparing lamb and others chopping vegetables. As the food was being prepared, Gojko held a presentation on ancient ingredients, sharing what flavors the Mesopotamians would have experienced. Later on in the night a sweet dessert of date syrup with sesame paste was enjoyed by the class. The event gave an excellent opportunity to learn cooking techniques and enjoy the food of an ancient culture.
